I just wanted to post this up because…. Because.
Yes, it might look like a random Korean guy you don’t know talking about songwriting, but to me it’s a subtle yet striking insight into the thought patterns of a rapper I’ve admired for years and who I’m really happy to see making waves again in the Korean music scene after some seriously tough times.
His name is Tablo, or Daniel Armand Lee, or 이선웅 [Lee Seon Woon] and he used to be the head man of self-governed Korean rap/hip-hop group, Epik High. A few years ago he was embroiled in a controversy with his own countrymen, who refused to believe he had achieved both his Bachelors and Masters in Engish Literature and Creative Writing from Stanford University, in the space of just three and a half years (USA BA=4 MA=2). It turned out that he had, indeed. There are many rumours about Tablo, perhaps one of the most telling being of having a genius-level IQ. Do I believe it? Yes, I do.
Everything fades away
To a shade of gray
The darkness of the heartless
Enslaves the day
And I pray to save you but
It’s safe to say au revoir
Ce soir je suis desole
Epik High Ignition
